How to get things done when your in your first trimester of pregnancy

Set timers

If you’re feeling tired but know you need to get a little bit of house cleaning done set a timer for 10 minutes. Do as much as you can at a pace that you can manage. When the timer goes off, Stop! It can be hard to quit cleaning once you’ve started but by doing so you are encouraging your future self to continue using timers.

Delegate

If you have other people you live with sit down and think about what you can ask them to do that will help you the most. Make these lists short. You don’t want to overwhelm your helper. Find the main thing that you need to get done, that they can reasonably help with and ask!

Stop when your grumpy


If at any point when you are cleaning or maintaining the house in some way, if you start to get grumpy, angry, sad etc stop. Your body is telling you that it is being overworked and the more you push the more grumpy you will become. Just drop what you’re doing and rest for a bit till you have calmed down.

Remember that you still have time

It is hard to do a lot in the first trimester. Do what you can and realize it probably wont be as much as what you normally do. Your body is going through a lot of changes and it needs time to relax. Give your body the rest it needs, and don’t be to hard on yourself. Chances are things will get better in your 2nd trimester and you can get caught back up on things then.
